SAFFORD – The city of Safford has announced a road closure for 8th Avenue from Monday, Feb. 24 through Friday, Feb. 28. The closure will be from 26th Street to Discovery Park Boulevard.
The city advised the closure is a necessary step toward the beginning of construction of the newly minted Mayor Jason Kouts Park. According to the notice, the closure is needed to ensure the safety of the workers and the public while preparing the site for the community park.
Temporary detours will be placed during the road closure.
Preliminary plans for Mayor Jason Kouts Park include five main amenities: a splash pad, pickleball courts, inclusive playground equipment areas, pinch-less zip lines, and an amphitheater that could possibly seat up to 500.
