SAFFORD — On Sunday, Oct. 8, just after 2 a.m., in the area of 1st Avenue and U.S. Highway 70, a Graham County Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle being operated in a manner that appeared the driver may have been impaired.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and, during the stop, it was discovered that the passenger in the vehicle, identified as Daniel Lopez, was an undocumented immigrant.
Lopez was transported to the Graham County Sheriff’s Office lobby, until a member of U.S. Customs and Border Protection out of Willcox arrived to take custody.
