SAFFORD, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is set to begin the Passing Lane Project on US 191 between mileposts 132 and 135 in Graham County, anticipated to start in mid-July. The project aims to improve traffic flow and safety on north- and southbound US 191 by adding passing lanes.
Construction activities will be conducted Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays from 6 a.m. to noon. Motorists traveling through the area should expect reduced speed limits, shoulder and lane closures, flagging operations, and other traffic restrictions at various times throughout the project duration.
ADOT encourages stakeholders and the public to subscribe to the project email updates via the project website at azdot.gov/US191PassingLanes to receive advance notifications about specific restrictions and closures. A project fact sheet is also available for reference and sharing.
