SAFFORD — The Graham County Chamber of Commerce has announced several open opportunities for community members to serve and participate, including one full-time paid staff position, two board seats, and multiple openings on its Membership and Leadership committees.

The chamber oversees membership, leadership development, and tourism-related economic initiatives across the Gila Valley. It is also known for organizing major community events, including the NatureSweet SalsaFest and the Safford Spring Festival powered by Sun Pumps. This year, the Chamber is also coordinating County-wide efforts to celebrate America’s 250th Independence Day.

The open staff assistant position is an entry-level role focused on visitor services and daily operations at the chamber office. Responsibilities include greeting in-person visitors, answering telephone calls, supporting community meetings, coordinating volunteers, and managing the chamber calendar. The position became available following the resignation of Camilla Gary, who accepted a new job in Tucson.

Board members are responsible for setting organizational policy, helping guide strategic priorities, reviewing budgets, and supporting buy-local initiatives. Recent vacancies follow the resignations of Tourism Committee Chair Jeffrey Kiser, a family nurse practitioner formerly with Canyonlands Healthcare, who has accepted a position in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and board vice president Holly Flaniken of DRG Technologies, who has taken a new role as vice president of human resources at RideNow Powersports.

Membership Committee members assist with planning monthly mixers, conducting outreach to chamber members, and supporting member success. Leadership Committee members organize monthly Gila Valley Leadership program sessions, select the Chamber Leader of the Year, and mentor emerging leaders. Participation in the Leadership Committee requires completion of the Gila Valley Leadership Program.
