PIMA — Get ready to gather your family, friends, and neighbors! The annual Gila Valley Pioneer Days celebration is officially returning on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, 2026, promising an action-packed weekend of community heritage, sports tournaments, local talent, and family fun.

Organizers have lined up a stellar roster of events — ranging from a high-energy family rodeo to an outdoor dance under the stars, culminating in a community barbecue and a spectacular fireworks finale.

If you are planning your weekend, here is the official breakdown of everything happening across the Gila Valley.

Friday, July 24: Sports, Shows, and Stars

The celebration kicks off bright and early on Friday morning with the highly anticipated Morning Sports Tournaments, featuring basketball, volleyball, and pickleball competitions.

Important Registration Note: Teams looking to compete must submit their registrations by Wednesday, July 15, 2026. To lock in your spot before the deadline, head directly to Gila Valley Pioneer Days.

The excitement moves indoors at 4:30 PM for the Community Variety Show at the David M. Player Center for the Arts in Safford. Admission is just $3 per ticket, available either online via TicketLeap or onsite at the door. It is the perfect, pressure-free showcase to cheer on the unique talents of your local community members.

As the sun sets, the action heads back to Pima for the Family Rodeo at the Vard Lines Memorial Arena. Participant registration begins at 6 p.m., and the main events kick off at 7 p.m. Whether you are climbing into the saddle or cheering from the grandstands, it’s an event built for the whole family.

To close out Friday night, keep the energy alive at the Community Family Dance from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Hosted in the Pima Arizona Stake Center parking lot, neighbors can dance under the stars at this lively, family-friendly outdoor gathering immediately following the rodeo.

Saturday, July 25: Parades, Feasts, and Fireworks

Saturday morning starts with a nostalgic twist at 7:30 a.m. with the ’80s Throwback Children’s Parade at the Edd Hubbard Football Field Track. Families are invited to walk the track dressed in optional pioneer clothing while pulling decorated wagons, strollers, or bicycles (please note that electric scooters and e-bikes are not permitted).

The crown jewel of the weekend — the Main Pioneer Parade — takes to the streets of Pima at 5:30 p.m. Celebrating this year’s official theme, “Walk With Me”, the parade route will officially start and end at the Pima Highway Church.

Immediately following the parade, bring your appetite to the Edd Hubbard Football Field for the Community Barbecue Dinner. For just $5 a plate (generously provided by Kurt Palmer, with drinks sold separately), it’s a perfect opportunity to share a delicious meal and connect with neighbors.

Finally, when darkness falls, all eyes will turn to the sky above the Edd Hubbard Football Field for the Fireworks Spectacular. The dazzling display will serve as the grand finale of an unforgettable 2026 Gila Valley Pioneer Day celebration.
