GILA COUNTY – Gila County Animal Care and Control is releasing the following information regarding the seizure of nine animals due to neglect.

On Wednesday, June 25, a Gila County Animal Control Officer issued a 24-hour notice to a residence, requiring that all animals on the property be provided with adequate shelter and water.

Upon follow-up, it was determined that insufficient action had been taken to protect the animals from extreme heat.

For the animals’ safety, the decision was made to seize them from the property.

A total of eight dogs and one cat were removed and immediately transported to Samaritan Veterinary Center for evaluation and care.

The animals are now safe and resting comfortably at our Animal Care facility.

Gila County Animal Care and Control would like to thank the Gila County Sheriff’s Office and Samaritan Veterinary Center for their assistance and swift response in this case.

This incident serves as a crucial reminder: under Arizona law (ARS), it is a felony offense to fail to provide your animals with proper food, water, and adequate shelter.
