City Council Meeting Update:
AIRPORT LANDING FEE UPDATE
The City of Safford is excited to announce a positive change to airport policy. In September of 2024, the City implemented changes to the airport rate structure that included provisions for landing fees for transient aircraft (aircraft not based at the airport). The City has received feedback from the General Aviation pilot community expressing their concerns over landing fees.
In response to that feedback, last night at the City of Safford City Council Meeting, the Airport Manager proposed an item to remove landing fees for any aircraft under 4,000 lbs., which exempts most piston-engine aircraft. City Council unanimously voted to adopt this change, effective immediately. Landing fees for touch-and-go operations for aircraft over 4,000 lbs. were also removed.
The City hopes that these changes will positively impact the General Aviation community and show the airports continued efforts to make the Safford Regional Airport a welcoming “Gateway to the Gila Valley”!
