His commitment to excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement makes him a valued member of the Safford Police Department. What initially attracted you to the City of Safford, and what motivates you to continue working here?
I grew up in a small town and have always preferred living and working in that environment. When my wife and I first drove through Safford to visit my mother-in-law, I remember thinking how much I liked the area. What keeps me motivated is that I love what I do and the people I work with. It’s truly a fun job.
What is the best part of your job?
Hands down, the best part of my job is the people I work with. I’ve never enjoyed working with a group as much as I do at this department. I truly feel like they are my family. I enjoy the work itself, but it’s the people I work alongside who make me love coming to work.
What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
I wouldn’t say I’m working on anything particularly unique at the moment, but I enjoy working night shifts because it allows me to be more proactive. I take pride in getting DUIs off the road.
How do you approach challenges in your role, and what strategies do you use to overcome them?
I have no problem asking for help from colleagues who have more experience or knowledge. I’ve taken, and will continue to take, additional training to become a better police officer. During our weekly briefings, officers and supervisors discuss real-world scenarios provided by our legal counsel. These help keep us updated on legal changes and prepare us for unusual or challenging calls for service.
Thank you, Ryan, for your hard work, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the City of Safford!
