⚠️ City of Safford Gas Customers – System Update ⚠️

You may have seen a recent post from Southwest Gas regarding lower-than-normal natural gas odorant levels in parts of Graham County.

We want to reassure City of Safford Gas utility customers that our natural gas system is completely safe and operating normally.

The City of Safford’s gas system is fed by two separate interstate main pipelines, which means we were not impacted by this issue. After being notified of the situation last night, our gas crews immediately deployed to proactively test our system’s odorant (mercaptan) levels at multiple locations across the city. All readings were confirmed to be more than adequate.

Safety remains our top priority. As a standard reminder, if you ever suspect a natural gas leak (a distinct sulfur/rotten egg odor, a hissing sound, or blowing dirt/bubbling water near gas infrastructure), please leave the area immediately. From a safe distance, call 911 and the City of Safford Gas Division at (928) 432-4200.
