In this edition, we’re proud to spotlight Trinity Granados, Journeyman Lineman in our Electric Department. He performs a variety of electrical line work, including setting poles, performing hot work, hanging switches, and working in substations to help maintain the City’s power system. Trinity shared that every day brings something new, which is what makes the trade rewarding and enjoyable.

What initially attracted you to the City of Safford, and what motivates you to continue working here?
What initially attracted me to the City of Safford was the opportunity to get into a trade. Being born and raised in Safford and playing sports for Safford High School, I have a lot of hometown pride. I look forward to furthering my career and learning more from Mr. Cook — Mike Cook, Electric Division Manager.

What is the best part of your job?
Something I enjoy about my job is doing hot work, climbing poles, and anything really on the construction side of work. I also like trouble calls because you never know what you’re going to respond to.

What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
Setting a switch on 26th street and running power to feed new apartments.

How do you approach challenges in your role, and what strategies do you use to overcome them?
Verify the challenge and remain composed. You never know what you’re going to find on a trouble call. It could be an energized line on the ground, a vehicle that ran into a pole, or a fire. Make a plan of attack and try to correct the problem as safely and quickly as possible.
