City of Safford FY24–25 Highlights Series

The City of Safford completed a significant amount of work across all departments during FY24–25, reflecting major progress in infrastructure, technology, public safety, community services, and long-term planning.

Over the next few weeks, we will share a series of “Did you know…” posts to highlight key achievements and the behind-the-scenes work done by your City of Safford team.

In our first session of Did You Know, we highlight our Public Works Department and the incredible increase in safety and efficiency at the landfill.

The Public Works Department completed the new transfer station located just past the entry gate. This improvement enables customers to dispose of their refuse in designated dumpsters without having to enter the main landfill area. The design enhances safety, reduces traffic congestion at the landfill, and makes each visit faster and more efficient.

Customers simply back up to the transfer station beneath the parking area, unload their refuse, and continue on their way.
