At last night’s Council Meeting, the Safford City Council proudly recognized National Native American Heritage Month with a formal proclamation honoring the rich history, culture, and the enduring legacy of Native communities.

We were deeply honored to welcome Councilman Ned Anderson, attending on behalf of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, along with Mr. Louie Lorenzo and three young men who shared a traditional Apache prayer and song. Their presence and cultural offering brought meaning and spirit to the evening, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn and celebrate together.

National Native American Heritage Month serves as an important reminder of the enduring traditions, stories, and strength of Indigenous communities — and our responsibility to honor and respect them every day.
