Information for Federal Employees During the Government Shutdown

The City of Safford understands that the ongoing federal government shutdown may create financial challenges for some of our residents, including federal employees and their families.
If you are affected and need additional time to pay your utility bill, you may qualify for an Extension Agreement through the City of Safford Utilities Department.

🗓️ Extension Agreement Details:
Allows additional time to pay your utility bill.
Applications can be made in person at any time during the month (no later than the fifth day after shut-off notices are mailed).

The extended due date will be the 10th working day from the final day applications are accepted.
Up to two extensions are allowed within a six-month period.

The City is committed to working with residents who may be impacted during this time. If you are experiencing hardship due to the federal shutdown, please contact our Utility Office to discuss your options.
