In this edition, we’re thrilled to spotlight Kayla Hobbs who works as a Human Resource Analyst in the Human Resources (HR) department. In this position, Kayla helps process the daily administrative functions of the HR department including onboarding, personnel changes, benefits, leave requests, and applying company policies and practices. What initially attracted you to the City of Safford and what motivates you to continue working here?
I was seeking a full-time position that provided opportunities for professional growth, a strong benefits package, and long-term stability through retirement options. I was excited about the opportunity to work for the City of Safford, and I continue to be motivated by the chance to develop my skills, contribute to the organization, and grow both personally and professionally.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is being part of a supportive team that is committed to helping employees succeed in their careers. I enjoy fostering a positive work environment by assisting employees with their questions and concerns, ensuring they feel valued and supported.

What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
Working in HR means that every day presents new challenges and learning opportunities. As I settle into my role, I am currently focusing on learning the Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) process, which I find particularly interesting due to its complexity and impact on employees.

How do you approach challenges in your role, and what strategies do you use to overcome them?
I view challenges as opportunities for growth. Receiving feedback helps me continuously improve, and I prioritize open communication and teamwork to navigate obstacles effectively. I ask questions, remain receptive to new ideas, and adapt to changes in order to find the best solutions.
